According to the Scriptures"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel... By which also ye are saved... unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Only One Life

Two little lines I heard one day,Traveling along life's busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart, And from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one, Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in 'that day' my Lord to meet, And stand before His Judgement seat;
Only one life,'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice, Gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave, And to God's holy will to cleave;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years, Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its clays I must fulfill, living for self or in His will;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore, When Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way, Then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep, In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e'er the strife, Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, "twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one, Now let me say,"Thy will be done";
And when at last I'll hear the call, I know I'll say "twas worth it all";
Only one life,'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.

Ya know, I'm very familiar with the saying, but I didn't remember it coming from a poem. I love the poem and boy does it put life in perspective! I was meditating the other day on eternity and I thought, I'm gonna live a lot longer out of this clay shell of mine than I'm ever gonna live in it, even if I were to live to be 100. That's less than a molecule of a drop in the bucket compared to eternity. God help me to become more heavenly minded and less worldly-for the world passeth away, and the lusts thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. If you don't know Jesus as your personal Savior and you got on this website, it was no accident. The pleasures and treasures of this world are fleeting at best. Creation in all its beauty was made for our enjoyment and use but we have corrupted it because we began to worship creation itself rather than the creator, God Almighty. But you know, it's never too late to pray to God to save you, so long as you're still alive. No matter what you may be facing this moment, God can rescue you. Just trust in His saving grace, for His Son Jesus paid the price for your sins on an old rugged cross over 2,000 years ago. I pray that you will meet your Creator now and start living for Him, so that when your life is past and you see Him face to face, it will not be a fearful time, or a shameful time, but rather a glorious sight to behold. And for those of us who wait patiently for His coming I leave Jesus' words from the book of Revelation-behold I come quickly. I'll see you there!

My Grandfather, ("Pa" Harris) left me with these lines in my autograph book when I was in my early teens - they've had a lasting impression on me. I always thought the writer was 'Turner' but I stand to be corrected. (as above). Ian Dalwood Kalaru NSW Asutralia ANZAC DAY 25th April 2008 AD
